Pause
As I watched as the tears fell and heard the pain of his loved ones I remembered
the candles were lit the flowers stood by as the pain settled in I could see
warm thoughtful embraces and a meaningful kiss as laid another to rest I felt
and no sooner then his life cut short it was over we said good bye and I paused
I remembered the boy who would crinkle his nose when he laughed, his blue eyes that
locked onto a world he knew was his for the taking the first one to address me as uncle and
I remembered who he was before the world changed him... and I smiled
I could see the love his family and friends have for him as tears filled the room when storeys
were told how his mother and sister cried in pain and as fathers and brothers tears fell the
same a loving kid who we will no longer see...not here
I felt his presents as I watched them all hug as the family they all once were I felt the tears
as I wiped them away from my wife's face knowing how hard it is to say goodbye to a
nephew are any family member I felt it like the three other times this year the pain the
remorse, the thoughts, the wishing, only to come to the conclusion every day every moment
we could change every thing with a word a smile a text a call to live and to help others live
for those who've past those who are here and the young to come
pause...take it in...remember...smile...they can no longer...so we will.
