Pathway To Peace

The pathway to peace is strewn with goodwill Arms embracing those suffering from poverty, A thousand points of light upon a shining hill. To the Golden Rule pledging allegiance still No violence like before plagued our history, The pathway to peace is strewn with goodwill. Forgetting what it means to covet and to kill No nationalistic leaders claiming superiority, A thousand points of light upon a shining hill. Remembering no reason others’ blood to spill While throwing open portals of cordiality, The pathway to peace is strewn with goodwill. In our children the virtues of kindness instill While educating them in the principles of unity A thousand points of light upon a shining hill. Like in ancient fables, hearts with joy shall fill Learning to love one another spontaneously, The pathway to peace is strewn with goodwill A thousand points of light upon a shining hill.

Why do we not demand peace? "no reason others’ blood to spill" - there really is not!

Hi Milton, "a thousand points of light upon a shining hill" I like the repetition in this form of poetry. It felt lyrical. enjoyed.

Thank you, Nancy. It seems like the more complicated forms of poetry almost always have some repeated lines. I find that element helpful in composing them. Hope you are having a wonderful holiday season.
