Past Present Future

With my years stretched out behind me Some mud puddles still remain There are bridges still standing proudly Though a few have large rust stains The quicksand of time has swallowed Good times and bad times alike But the road that I have followed Is lit well by the seeds of life I didn't always make the right choices My life's been a con man's shell game There were always dissenting voices Not once did my head hang in shame Occasionally I tripped on my heart As you all are aware love is blind But I got up and made a new start Moving forward not looking behind Taught values have guided me this far I've bent double but never been broken My wounds have all healed and scarred Each one is a treasured token There is still room left in the chest For a few more treasured memories I have vowed to myself, make the best Of the journey stretched out before me an original poem by the "poemdog" Daniel Turner

I don't mind. I like it, it's just that people who consider me their friend usually call me Danny or DT. Nobody knows who poemdog is on the outside world. YET!

Very beautiful look at your life, Daniel. My favorite line is about the wounds and scars being treasured tokens. Never thought of it that way, but...had there not been deep love...there would not have been a scar to testify of it. As the saying goes..."It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." Thanks for visiting my Vincent poem. So thoughtful of you. I have posted a response. Blessings.
