Passive-Aggressive
I smile, I smile
I have to be polite
Sun is shining and abiding
Have to hide my revulsion from sight
Nearer and dearer thou art to me
Unfold schismatic symmetry
I’m passive-aggressive
Swallow the temperament, stow the temper
Cut the kite’s tail, let the multiple selves be severed
In this sunny field of childhood, chasing the sparrows around
You’ll find that in your spasms, you impaled one into the ground
That’s passive-aggressive
Tell me, what does it do
What good does swallowing emotion do
The girl never gets to hear her love
And the liars and killers never get their due
Padded walls, screened calls
Building your stucco fortress
And here you are in the nursery of fear
Hiding from the wicked governess
‘Cause you’re passive-aggressive.
