Parts of Me
The part of me that has to leave,
Was never meant to stay,
I knew there would come a time,
I’d have to face this day…
But somehow I’m still unprepared,
Since what I’ll leave behind,
Still whispers to me just as scared,
Through every word they find…
The parts of me I leave behind,
Are memoirs you must keep,
To comfort you during the times,
You can’t find me in sleep…
Although I’ll be a dream away,
You may not close your eyes,
Avoiding all the tears they say,
Will run but never dry…
Because the most important part,
Still lives beyond my skin,
And fills the beats between the heart
You carry deep within…
