Parting Gift
Parting Gift
You called it a parting gift,
to soften away the blow.
A way to make the pain lift,
To stop the tears flow.
Instead, it parted my heart,
As the walls of Jericho.
It ripped me wide apart
As you shall never know
This parting gift you gave me
Has cursed me, body and soul;
I only hope in life's new page
You shall never follow
