Paper Airplanes

Listen to poem:
September hues of school day smiles and bran new leather bags creative minds as young as baby figs with eager hearts of lore My days were full with mischief makers and bragging scalawags but as the evening fell it was dad and I and paper planes galore Lined creased papers pressed against father's smoky fingers strong a wide tooth grin that said it all, while folding them in Ludwig style Symmetrical wings shaped at the edge to fly through standby throng inside a backyard airfield 16x24, .. we launched then bridged a mile One was shaped like a prayer mantis one was fashioned like a jet homework waited as we glided through a glide-path then a runway Aerobatic landings that were much more thrilling, then a Lego set oh the wanders of those days when we both knew, how to play. A lovely childhood made wonderful by having a loving dad, something sadly some never had. I was one of five sisters and we used to make paper dolls that pulled out like a streamer. Paper airplanes would have been fun. Enjoyed the read, Belle

sorry to hear you missed out on the dad part, but you probably had sisters, and together you made memories, I recall sis and I playing with paper dolls, those were the good old days, thanks for stopping by Ma Belle

Hi Vienna, I have to admit, I do love reading these memories. I used to love making paper aeroplanes but mine had the awful way of crash and burn. You did take me back and I loved the childhood visits. I always found it strange that my planes flew better inside than outside. That's me I suppose. Love and Hugs always ..... Mike. XX Has to be a childhood fave.

Along the years my bro and I made so many of them, some worked better than others, but they were all so fun to make and play with, thanks for reading Harry, :)

My dad used to love to share with us many dreams and things, his favorite was showing us the stars of heaven at night and naming them one by one, thanks for reading Robert.

Rose, thanks for the "Happy Trails" down memory lane again. Not only does this remind me of flying paper airplanes but rubber-band airplanes, small engine airplanes with tether strings before radio controls and rockets with parachutes. Thanks for such an "Uplifting" poem.

This is such a beautiful entry for the contest. A child's busy day is neatly presented clubbing school hours, home work and play ! The father knows that all work and no play will make Jack a dull boy. So he helps his son enjoy flying paper planes. I like the plane shaped like a praying mantis. I remember playing with such paper planes as a child!
