Paper

My mind reaches with papered fingers Palms held upward Searching for an unearthly scribe The pages of me lay strewn on the floor Inked with my inconsistancies My moments of clarity Passionate notes to former lovers Humble ramblings Wisdoms trinkets Released along margins Waiting to be edited Combined Clarified Celebrated Parts of me are folded Edges torn Ripped in pieces Ideas lost in time Scribbled over with anger Hidden under layers Page upon page In no particular order Yet in some way It all makes sense The best and worst of me Tears and laughter The symphony of me Pressed between pages Words that seek to travel Beyond blue and white Two dimension Rising above the page Synaptic passages Creating color Telling stories Real and imagined Paper moons Oragami sunrises My mind reaching with papered hands Palms held upward Seeking an unearthly scribe For SKAT's ode, old/new contest. I really really want to win a hug!

I think this is a clever and original idea for a poem, comparing oneself to many different pieces of paper; I like the "papered fingers" and "origami sunrises", good work...and thanks for leaving such an inspiring comment on my poem :)

Had I known that, I surely would have entered! So much for trying to play fair. Wish you had given me a nudge...Ok...It's all said and done, would I have placed? Inquiring minds want to know! ;)

There were some entrys that used my poems and I did my best to be impartial. It does make it harder but I feel good about my decisions.

Thanks....I appreciate it so much...About your contest....I would have entered my poem, but...seeing as it is about one of YOUR poems, I didn't think others would consider it fair, and might question your judgement were I to do well. So...that's why I didn't enter it....It's a lovely contest idea...Take care....

Hi Eileen, sorry you are down. I want to respond to the people that entered my contest so probably won't have time to write a new one today. I will however say a prayer for you.

Excellent write Richard! I love how you've used 'paper' to reflect on aspects of your whole being- the good, the bad and the striving towards a higher existence. the imagery is especially effective - it is frightful to imagine parts of ourselves as folded, hidden and even ripped - and yet that is the reality when it comes to living. Very well penned.

This is a wonderful write my friend! I really enjoyed reading this amazing poem of the thoughts and feelings that you have and the wisdom to put them down on paper this morning! I love the thought of the paper being folded or torn, that is awesome! What a brilliant piece, Great Work!!
