Paindrops
Tears, yes tears, I know them well.
Their purpose, Their function, Their salty smell.
Tears, yes tears, in my eyes swell.
Like water on the fires of my own hell.
Tears from cheeks, myself to knees.
Together in pain we fell.
Oh merciful father in heaven please
deliver from this spell.
To drink of this drink
Which I so often drink
is much like tears in the rain.
I water them down
My tears simply drown.
'Tis deceiving to fears and pain.
Please allow me my tears
In the hot sun that sears
their glistening path to my cheek.
For I'm but a man
Making my stand
Too often stoic yet weak.
