Over In a Flash

Remove a person from the world Yet time keeps ticking by, For those remaining live their lives As if they’ll never die. Our presence on the earth is fleeting, Over in a flash. We flounder, fret or frolic But we ultimately crash. Though each of us accumulates A varied stack of days, We may squander, use or hoard them But we’re never granted stays. So we really can’t control the age When we will cease to be. When our time is up, the wheels still turn In perpetuity.

Isn't it strange how easily poems come to us when we're moved. The soul seems to have this script writing ability that given the opportunity to perform. In fact...I have just tumbled that our poems are actually written by the "Sub conscience" - makes perfect sense when you think about it. Loved this one.

Well written Ilene. A broad range of control to it. A good read with good thoughts.

I think it's God and angels that keep us from ourselves. When subjects of such dire doom, the mind foolishly delves. To somehow get on with our lives is how humanity survives. And when one's journey is out of gas. God and those angel's will help us pass. :)

So very true, as Omar said the moving finger writes and having writ moves on, nor all thy piety nor thy wit will call it back to erase but half a line nor thy tears wash away a word of it. Knowing my memory I have probably paraphrased, but hey ho. Lovely poem. Kind regards, Ian

that's wise advice, tim! i watched my oldest friend get buried today (which has inspired some of my more serious and sad poems lately) so this really hits home for me now...
