Outside My Window
On the cold floor I jerk awake,
And like a miracle a light shines,
I stand on my toes and look,
Outside my tiny window the sun is risin',
I can almost feel its rays,
Caressing my cold clammy skin,
Outside the land is barren.
It’s all barbed wire surrounding me…Tall and forbidding.
But outside I see freedom,
I can taste it though from afar,
Outside I see the sun wink at me,
I ‘am another day closer to freedom.
