Out of the Box
Out of the box
I’ve been here forever, I wish I was leaving
I just can not wait to get out of this box
It’s dark and it’s cramped and so difficult breathing
Hey, I’m not a toy or a new pair of socks,
I push and I shove but I find it’s not helping
I claw at the sides but make nary a dent
I whimper and sigh and I’ve even tried yelping
Hoping they hear and some aid soon is sent
There’s nothing to eat and my stomach is growling
And using the bathroom, I don’t even try
Wait, what’s that sound, it’s like someone’s is prowling
Maybe they’ll notice if I start to cry
Hold on a minute, now stop with that shaking
There is a voice, it sounds just like a kid
Come on, let’s go, before me you are breaking
Tear off the paper and open the lid
Get me out of here, can’t you see I’ve been waiting
Humans are stupid it seems like to me
No need to question, no use in debating
But who wraps a puppy for under the tree?
