Our High School Days

We touched each other every place On the outside of our clothes We kissed each other on the face And we rubbed each other’s nose Your prom dress was so beautiful I watched it tumble to the floor After four years of making out We were ready to do much more I was scared I was excited I was inexperienced And, I was shy You looked at me so willingly And yet, you looked like you might cry I touched you You touched me My him became your her Seconds seemed like hours Everything else Was just a blur Our performance was truly awful And yet, terrific at the same time We fell asleep in each other’s arms Exhausted bodies and tired minds The performances got much better But the excitement started to fade Enrolling in different colleges Helped us go our separate ways I hear that you got married And moved to another state I got married once myself It was a big mistake I don’t really long for you Or wish to reconnect Just love remembering our high school days And that prom I won’t forget

Very touching poem, Joe. Many of us have old loves whom we think of often. It doesn't mean we want to rekindle the romance. It's more of a nostalgic thing. I bet the memory you described of prom night will never fade. Cherish these memories, Joe. Lots of people will relate to this message! Love, Carolyn
