Our Debt To Paper and Pen
Those of us who love poetry
whether to write or read
must recognise what we owe
to this it must be agreed
Where indeed would we be
without our weapons of rhyme
indeed our loss would be great
being without this art would be a crime
Having pen in the hand
setting the paper before one
letting mind go to work
so the pen's work can be done
It's a thought to consider
a world with no poetic gem
what could become of us?
oh where is that paper and pen?
