Our bed

The centre of my universe
A place, together we laid
We’d talk, we’d share, just be
We cried, we hoped, we prayed

The world outside was turning
Yet I never really knew
Births and deaths occurring
My focus stayed on you

In that bed I dreamt
In that bed lay me
Vulnerable and insecure
Needing to feel free

Free to examine life
Free to feel alone
Free to make my own mistakes
Free to come and go

I let go of your guiding hand
Jumped into life’s deep sea
Never understanding why
I felt this need in me

I still don’t have the answers
And I still don’t understand
But I miss your love, your kindness
And how I miss that hand

...Births and Deaths occuring, My focused stayed on you... Beautiful line in a beautiful poem. Crazy how we can cast out all other reality when we're in love...but when that love is gone no amount of reality can cast out the one we miss. Much love, Steve

WOW I love this well expressed vision of love and life and the choices we make. Great flow throughout the poem! I loved the last stanza it went well with the whole poem! This is going to my favorites! Laura :) Happy Valentines day!

Vikki, what a fine tribute to love lost by those who think the grass is greener somewhere else. God speed your recovery; take His guiding hand. Best - Carolyn

Wonderful poem, well put. Like you have a need to let go, examine and live your own life and yet missing what you had.

I love the line about letting go and jumping into life's deep sea, quite a moving line. The whole piece read with terrific rhyme and flow and was just a wonderful write. Michael
