Our Adieu
When the golden threads upon your head
Slowly turned to silver
The years of each of us ambling by
As the unending course of a river
I wondered about you my friend
Hoping all was well your way
And that perhaps in a future time
I would see you one fine day
Then there you were before my eyes
With delight I took you in
So many questions so little time
Unsure as how to begin
I mumbled words as my mind set in stone
Each line of your beloved face
Not knowing my friend if and when
You'll return in this time and space
Perhaps I pray a future time
A time of idealic charm
Where no one will ever say goodbye
And none will suffer harm
The comfort I have come to know
And understand as you I miss
I can love you an ocean away
Necessity has shown me this
