Other People's Vacations

When friends recount their travels They sound wonderful, although Most often they describe a place I might not want to go… Or even if the destination’s Someplace to entice, Their version of the trip is not My type of paradise. For everyone’s vacation Is unique, like DNA. We all have certain things we like To do when we’re away. We’re lucky if, vacation-wise, Our plans can be in sync With spouse or friends or relatives Who share the way we think. While I enjoy renditions Of the trips my friends describe, My own will be quite different From the ones they would prescribe. When planning trips, I let my yens And fancies be my guide Since my on-my-wavelength husband Will be right there by my side.
