Only To Find
In the past
I’ve always tried to be
Anyone but me.
Extreme hair.
Extreme clothes.
All the mimickings
With all the trimmings.
I’ve tried on so many lives
Just hoping it’s mine,
Only to find
…nothing.
So, I bathed in the nothingness,
Thrived on the emptiness,
Lived in the fakeness…
Only to find
…it wasn’t me.
So, I put down the hair,
Put down the clothes,
Put down the faces
That comes with the poses.
Only to find
… me.
