One Word Can Change Your Life

Think of a word, no matter how abstract, That when you say it , makes folk react. The word I mean should describe you, Miserable, sad, melancholy or blue, Do any of these make you think of you? Maybe now is the time to put things right, So you won't be blue in the darkness of night. Try hard to get things right inside your head, So you end up happy as you go to your bed. The world won't help, we've all found that out, No one really gives a damn when you scream out. So, in the parlance of this generation, don't linger, Do unto them, as you go to bed, give them the finger. It is the right of every person on earth, To enjoy a life of joy, happiness and mirth, I don't mean going round, gurgling like a drain, Let joy back inside, it's been to long in the rain. It may sound crass, as I have thought too, Laugh and the world will also laugh with you, But there is no one other than your good self, Who is going to help you down off that shelf. I've lived on that shelf for far too long, I want to get down and sing my own song. I want to make it happy to make me react, So think of a word, no matter how abstract. © Dave Timperley 30 July 2016.
