One Thing

One anguished night I lay awake and calling out your name, I cried out for some comfort for this dull and aching pain. That special place your life once filled is now a void inside, It hurts to look for meaning in the senseless way you died. Today I searched for one small glimpse of truth to help me cope, Just one thing gave it meaning, only one thing brought me hope: The love you had for Jesus, like a lamb in its shepherd's care, Now my goodbye is His hello, But son, I'll see you there, My son, I'll see you there.

This is wonderful, John. DId you make it up about your son? I don't recall if you had a son who died. I am seeing a comment below that seems to indicate this is a true story. So sorry, John, and maybe you even told me this and I forgot.

This was written for dear friends whose son died in an accident at home. He was around 30 years old. Janet and I sang this at his memorial service. Thank you for your kind condolences, Andrea.
