One More Shot

With crinkled eyes, I watched the lights flicker The chirps of the newly awakened birds My body felt weightless under a sea of bourbon Laughing at childhood memories so long ago I felt the burn slide down my throat A plastic bag blew in the wind And still I sat on cold concrete reflecting Life seemed too short to waste Yet, I watched the sun peek over the mountains My bleeding foot, a lapse in memory A broken heart tucked into bed Life is too short to feel regret Life is too short to feel at all With one more shot, I'll watch the sun rise And give it a shot in Fall
