On the Shore of Maui
I was on the shore of Maui
And the sky was royal blue;
Perhaps it was a lighter shade
Though impressive was the view.
And the cotton floating overhead
Put my restive mind at ease;
As did the puca and the palm
And the trade wind's gentle breeze.
In fact it was so picturesque
The emerald peaks, and beach;
I considered staying where I was,
The sea just out of reach.
But the turquoise sea was calling
Till it fell upon my mind,
That I would be more greatly blessed
If I left the beach behind.
So I turned to the horizon
Quite unsure of what would be;
But Lord, the wonders I beheld...
Though it took the sea, to see!
