On the Road and In the Room
A cold winter did not know
How it ruffled with the leaves
As they disappeared into the night
Fleeting glimpses under the plight
Coming from an odd room
With an odd lamp on
Sadness was sinking
And he could not smell
The flavour of her
Panting heart ornate
The impish night
With grins of joy:
She could not see as she strolled
Making the streets her kingdom,
Fireflies enlightened her gait
Like a queen of the strong
Hollow she was like the room
With the man,
Who wept under the odd lamp on
She walked past the bruised room
While he cried unnoticed
Slowly the sun ate the lamp,
And a new day began.
