On the Path of Tears
On the path of tears
I look back to learn
from past mistakes and sorrows.
One foot steps forward
then two slip back.
My inspiration comes
in the faces of family,
in the memories from within.
The earth's layers crack beneath me.
The sky in color moves above me
steering my spirit
as it rises and falls with my breath.
On the long journey,
God whispers in a song on the breeze.
I search hills and valleys
for enlightenment.
I look back to learn
from past burdens and struggles
on the path of tears.
Loved ones are remembered
as new friends come take my hand.
The aged weaken and die with a kiss
and new life is nurtured.
My inspiration comes
in the beauty of creation,
the earth and sky
and the miracle of life -
all in motion around me.
In the clearings, my final destination
comes into view, surrounded by light,
a place to call home,
divine inspiration.
At the end of the path,
I look back to learn,
I have no regrets.
Love is the true inspiration.
God wipes my tears.
