On the Other Side of Romance

On the other side of romance; I do; Two words that changed my life. I do; With these words we became husband and wife. I do; I will, I promise this to you; my heart to you will remain true. I still do. On the other side of romance things look a bit different than what I had envisioned. A shared life now means shared chore divisions. Laundry, dishes, dusting; Bickering, teasing, fighting and fussing. I still do; Snuggles and laughter, corny, weird, inside jokes. Sickness and stress, riches and things that get broke. Gourmet meals or lunch from a bag, Holding hands when bodies start to wear out and sag. I still do; A special song; a shared dance Sitting together in the dark Playing together, praying together Staying together when things are bleak and stark, On the other side of romance. A back rub, a gentle touch, On the other side of romance The little things mean so much. I still do; Open hearts, restless minds, countless resets, many rewinds. Dreams shared and shattered Joys and pain; our picture perfect image, worn and tattered Love finds rays of sunshine after the rain. I still do; Find joy in each other and loving the mundane. Sweet notes and letters; remind me; A phone call, a passing thought, a small token; I still see… On the other side of romance. I still do; A single yellow blossom, you placed in my palm, my favorite candy, my favorite movie, my favorite you is my soul’s balm. Gestures of love, the little things guide our way… I still do; On the other side of romance, I’ll gladly share my life with you every day. 11/20/17 Choose A Topic: Love and Romance Contest
