On the Hill

On the hill Looked in valley below Stood their feeling The cool breeze blow Sent a big chill down my spine At the bottom of the hill I could see kids start to climb Decided to sit on a log Get fire started for the night Kept looking around To see what's in sight Off to a distance, I could hear Coyotes howl out loud They were in the field The farmer just had plowed A dog started running Came towards me and growled When she realized it was me Lacy wagged her tail, barked loud On the other side of me Was a pond six feet deep Could see a tortoise Did nothing but creep A doe and baby fawn Settled in for the night Fawn was already half asleep So quiet, couldn't hear a peep All of a sudden, I heard A big huge splash Gomer jumped in the pond He had to take a bath Finally, laid next to the fire It was stoked for the night Looked up at the sky Moon and stars shining bright A falling star I did see Hopefully, that wish will come true for me This was my favorite spot to be When needed to think or find peace Alone with my dogs here Staying there I had no fear 6/20/14
