On the First

This morning there was rain, but then The sunshine took command, To make it clear, for this new year, There would be joy at hand. So by the time I left to walk, The promenade contained More people who had waited, too, ‘Til it no longer rained. The air was fresh, the sidewalks shone With puddles here and there And new year shouts erased all doubts Of levity to spare. Who knows what future days will hold In 2024? But on the first, there is a thirst For all the good in store.

The first day of a new year somehow seems to bring hope for something fresh. Even if your day started with rain, it did not dampen your expectations, and it soon rewarded you with sunshine and a promise of better things to come! Happy New Year to you and your loved ones, Ilene. // paul

thank you, terry! yes, if you can't be hopeful at the start of the year, well, there isn't much hope for you for the rest of the year, i guess. a very happy 2024 to you and your family as well...

A most enjoyable, uplifting read IIene, and in perfect rhyme too. I'm saving "On the First" to my faves. Smiles Anne :-)
