On Angels' Wings
High above our shattered town,
On angel's wings you fly around.
Watching over those of us,
Left to rebuild our shattered lives.
I'm sorry that you suffered so,
And that no one will ever know.
The horror that you faced, the fear that you felt,
Were you even aware that the levees broke?
I feel your pain, your suffering,
When the rushing water destroyed everything.
And left you gasping for one last breath,
'Causing your tragic, untimely death.
I believe you're in a better place,
Far above this human race.
You are free, finally home,
Having suffered your last storm.
High above our shattered town,
On angel's wings you fly around.
Through tears I whisper may God hold you close,
He takes only the best and it's you He chose.
