Old Girl Down

Old Girl Down One step after another took the old girl down Rain, asphalt black answered back Cold shoes, wet feet, puddled deep Overhead dark clouds settle in The forecast called for more of the same Women and fossils should not be out in this Sounds splash hard off echoed solid streets Gray tall buildings went by one after another When will it end when there is no end in sight One step after another took the old girl down

Impressively descriptive, your line "women and fossils should should not be out in this" Your way with words is so unique, cheer up your glum and smile for me :)

Hi Casarah, It is nice to hear from you. "Don't Worry."... "Be Happy." Thank you for your kind words. I am a very happy go lucky guy. I am the original, definitive class clown. Nothing bothers me. I was in a very good mood here in sunny Florida when I created this in the early morning hours today. Have a wonderful weekend. Earl

Earl, the picture you paint is seen too often on the streets of our cities where hope slowly erodes to hopelessness. This is a beautifully written and stunningly sad poem.

Hi John, Thank you for your interesting and supportive comments. I guess you can see why the old girl is down. It is bright and sunny here in Florida today. I'm actually in a good mood. Some where some place some one is not. I guess this is simply a reflective piece. I hope the old gal finds her way home and finds some dry shoes. Have a great week end. Earl
