Oh, Christmas Tree

Oh, Christmas tree. Oh, Christmas tree, you're just an imitation. Oh, Christmas tree. Oh, Christmas tree. A tragic situation. We got you back in ‘82 when you were shiny spanking new, But now with all that you've been through, it's getting hard to look at you. Oh, Christmas tree. Oh, Christmas tree, the family cat has jumped on you. Oh, Christmas tee. Oh, Christmas tree, your drooping branches broke in two. You used to give us such a thrill, but now we only get a chill. So sadly to the garbage bin; we'll shed a tear; then toss you in. (none of my artificial trees ever got this bad. Really!!) For Shadow Hamilton's Christmas Tree Contest

New things are taken care more bought for particular purpose. As soon as it is served kept aside. When becomes old, we forget it to take care of that. Why we do? don't know.Perhaps, we like new. Though it's a funny, says a truth, my friend. Good morning. Have a nice day.bl

Haha hmm I can't say the same for us-- we actually had this one 8ft tree before but it served its purpose well until the branches we had to like make do and use them as separate decors, sort of like wreaths.... enjoyed this one, and as for the soupy addict, you and me both hun, ok I am really outta here. happy to see you here and congrats on finishing all those winners' lists heehee :D

That's planned obsolescence for you! Nothing lasts forever. You get so much use out of something before it breaks or becomes unusable. You have described your tree very well with good rhyming.

Andrea....here is the childlike side of you. How fun to read this catchy lil dig about your plastic princess....TIMBER!!!!! Congrats on your recent winnings with your work....I struggle to keep up with the multitude of contests...I like to read each and every winning poem but it is sooo hard with my schedule. I read your work from years back on another site. You have so much experience...love, Gwendolen

Oh wonderful! I was singing the carol all the way through - fits perfectly. Just today I was looking through the pictures of your family and friends you sent me. Such a happy, good looking gang. You just gotta be having a happy Yule. I am now in the process of writing some Christmas Haiku. Lots of fun. Love, daver

Awesome write Andrea! Very cool the way you so accurately placed the words together not only to make a great rhyme but also went with the original tune!! Are you a lyricist too? Great work!!

Made me laugh because last year I tossed our old Christmas tree in the garbage. Had it many years too. I went out and bought a small one as got tired of putting up a big tree so this year will have to get rid of lots of ornaments too. I really hate decorating a tree and wrapping presents. Just put them in bags and tape them so much easier. soup mail

Very nice personification of that old Christmas tree.Repitation of that sentence (oh Christmas tree) made the poem more appealing.Best wishes Andrea.
