Ode To Aunt Millie

It is difficult to write about one's family, especially at times of tears and sympathy. Ever crossing her lips like a long country mile, I'll always remember Aunt Millie's contagious smile. Whether Sweeak or Cwiak or Shwack in name, she was part of our family, just the same. Uncle Ed's early death left her with three children to raise alone, I still marvel at how well she did with them on her own. Glad to have seen her this past week , if for only a moment you see, I barely said, "Hello", when she smiled at me. For her, that smile was always a pleasure, it is the one thing I'll keep, as my memory's treasure.

Thanks Jan. We may always have the memories, but she will be missed. She and my Uncle Bruno were the last of the wartime generation. (See Sentimental Journey) I appreciate your condolences very much.

Thanks Dan. She was the last of my father's generation and we buried her last week. If you look at my "Sentimental Journey", that was a eulogy to my last uncle who we buried only 2 weeks earlier. I was trying to connect my family with these two works. I appreciate your read and comments.
