Ode To a Persimmon

Ode to a Persimmon Ahhh! Ripe, juicy, pulpy persimmon… plump berry, mini orange sun. Syrupy sweet delicious delight dangling golden in day’s bright light, on blue-green leafy branch up high, glossy under a summer sky. Fleshy ambrosial enchantress, nectar of Pomona, fruit goddess. Like a bee to honey I’m drawn; your flavor incites me to fawn. My greedy taste buds you excite, tempting me to come take a bite. Dangling golden in day’s bright light, syrupy sweet delicious delight. Tempting me to come take a bite, my greedy taste buds you excite. Plump berry, mini orange sun… ripe, juicy, pulpy persimmon. Ahhh! 08-02-2018

I like this! Makes me want a persimmon! Reminds me of the south American poet Pablo Neruda. He wrote odes to good like the artichoke and the onion.

Hi Darlene, it doesn't have a citrusy flavor. The texture is similar to an apricot but the taste is richer and more honeyed! Thank you, my friend! Hugs. Pandita

Hi Pandita, tickling the poetic tastebuds with this delicious piece of creativity. You weave magic in this fruity gem. Actually, I have to head for the kitchen after this one. The whole scene comes alive under the spell of your golden pen. You know how to draw the reader into the heart of your poetry. Excellent work Pandita. A wonderful, juicy fave. Have a wonderful Friday. Love and Hugs....Mike. XX

You took me on a global tour, but I almost dreamed your vivacious reading of this poem in Espanol! It will blow the roof off The Kennedy Center (For the Arts!!) You know, certain Middle Eastern groups share this Kakha & Cactus fruit love & specialty. How Nature & Cultures inform each other. Thanks so much for this wondrous Ode Ms. Sanchez. Anil

Awww! My dear Vijay, I am so delighted by your lovely compliments! You make me smile! Thank you so very much! It was a little tricky working on the lines repeating in pattern in the final verse, so it took a while to complete:-). Hugs and best regards. Pandita
