October Pain

A day I hate to remember Still a day we can never forget The pain will haunt us forever Filled with sorrow and empty regret They were taken from us so very young Their lives had only just begun Our world changed forever On that fatal day All those painful feelings We kept buried away As our tears fell like rain drops Till there were none left to cry We looked to the heavens With a single word “WHY?” Over the years our faith to the test The pain in our hearts Can never rest Until the day we see them On the other side Then suddenly I realize Part of us Already died
