October

OCTOBER The gull senses it Just his usual cry, yet something portends Something come alive A relaxed, quiet intensity Strange, like a trembling, single leaf, or A dozen late, pink roses – one white rose Laying out, watching the sky The grass – damp chill against the bones October’s sensation? Well, not love exactly. Thrill describes it Distant roar of the stadium crowd Footballs in the air Spiraling, - spiraling to nowhere The roar – now it becomes you You become it The visible, the invisible action of it all

Truly a beauty, Daver.. Autumn's my favorite season, ever! Thank you for reading my featured poem...I'm still laughing even though it's been years since I wrote that. Hope you're doing well, Daver. God bless. Annalise

Daver, I especially love that Last stanza, making us one with the feeling of October using football spiraling image( even though I hate that sport). It was a great image. this would work excellently in that one contest meant for the spirit of the fall!
