October
October
Full and round the sound
October
Golden bright its light
October’s moon
Like sun at noon
A comfort in the night
Leaves lay thick their carpet
They crunch along the lane
So rich their scent
On boughs low bent
Come autumn’s wind and rain
October, October
Each scent and sound and sight
This second spring
When leaves take wing
Like cherry blooms in flight
October, October
Autumn’s home and name
A chilling thought
Is seldom sought
By October’s friendly flame.
