Oblivious To Nature

It seemed like nature had concocted a singular miracle As I sat on the wooden bench looking in towards the woodland. A red maple tree stood tall surrounded by eucalyptus trees While down below grew the yellow protea and acacia scrubland. Sun filtered in between the green and red coloured full growing trees Sending bright rays of light upon the lotus decorated lake, Dragonflies flitted over flowers, as cicadas sang their song, As a light south breeze ruffled the surface, what melodies they make. Thus I sat amazed at the scenery so magical and bright, Admiring all beauty God's creation that no man can design. Meantime my daughter sat quietly next to me, mobile in hand, Tapping messages away, heedless of the view as I did pine.

There is a stark difference between our generation and the younger generation. When we get lost in the beauty of nature, their eyes are glued to the mobile and smart phones. Every day they get distanced from the natural surroundings... so sad !

This started out, warming my chilly bones; I could appreciate this scenery; though I am not borg. Kids seem to be locked in a digital universe anymore. Well penned and a great point.

Sadly the young seem to miss so much of our beautiful world, if only they would look up from time to time they would feel so much better! Thankfully we know this to be true Victor. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Nature’s beautiful scenery you’ve described for the reader Victor. There’s so much out there so to be enjoyed, it’s a pity the young don’t see the world as we do, that’s what technology has done, it’s a crying shame… Lovely poem, Belle

The young sometimes don’t see anything! Glad I never had a tv in the car either.Kids need to look out the window and dream. We need to slow down and walk those views too or sit a spell. Nice imagery, dear one!

- We have become so dependent on technology that nature is forgotten ... I do not think young people know what the different trees are called ... nor do they listen to birdsong ... really sad - A wonderful poem, Victor :) - Have a lovely weekend. .. take care my friend :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

Yes, the younger generation are content to communicate with friends on their phones and life passes them by. Sometimes husband and wives will be out eating at a nice restaurant and talk to each other on the phone. They are both at the same table not at separate restaurants or separate tables. LOL..Your visit to my page was encouraging. Sara

Beautiful imagery Victor, the younger generation are often too focused on their phones and tablets and miss out on enjoying their youth outdoors!

Victor, the scenery through your eyes is beautiful but younger ones have not yet come to realize the value of nature. You don’t take it for granted. This is one of the best from you lately. Hugs

OH, Wow, Victor a poem which i instantly relate to. The countryside seems oblivious to all my grandchildren and their children, many times i have travelled pointing out mountains and the scenery, yet eyes remain glued to their devices. The world is in trouble Victor, the simple things that we enjoyed as children, do not count anymore. Or maybe the next generation are already looking toward the stars, maybe that will become their countryside. Great poem and to the point.
