Oak Tree Alone In a Field

In a field a tall oak tree has stood, grass and yellow leaves lay at its base though away, a small distant grey wood stands behind the tree, without a face, Though alone it seems the stronger frame for the tree is first to feel the sun, but perhaps it's all in here the same when it all at last is said and done, For the tree is first to face the rain, winds and storms, the snow and ice it feels still it stands a fearsome, wiser gain with a nameless though a steady keel, In a field a tall oak tree has stood, time and time it stands, it stays alone though away, a small distant grey wood waits to show the tree how much it's grown.
