Nuts To You - For Contest
Nuts To You
The squirrel hunts his nuts with great abandon
then buries them in sequences quite random.
no time to check the value of each prize
he’s not the only hunter beneath the trees
he knows the raccoons see just what he sees
yet buries them beneath their prying eyes
knowing that by half they’re empty lies
deception hid beneath the coming freeze
a cool soft sun fades
beneath a dark horizon
hard winds rock shivering trees
nested hammock swings
rocking nestled family
warmth beneath fluffy grey quilt.
