Nurses

>Nurses Am I awake? What! Where am I? I'm looking up, can't see the sky. All looks white, quiet too, I wonder now, what should I do? What did they say? Where would I be? When theatre staff finished with me. Oh yes! In bed, with a nurse too, not in, but caring, watching over you. So with that thought inside my head. I sank down further in my bed. No more worry, no more fear. A Guardian Angel nurse is near. I woke again not quite it's true. Don't know what I'm supposed to do. So just lay back and rest a while. 'What's that! An angelic nurse's smile?' I'm waking more than I'm asleep I look around and try to peep. At who's that nurse beside my bed. Smiling at my dozy head. 'Hello Stanley, you're all right, it's quite late, it's still the night. Go back to sleep,' she did say, 'I'll stay with you until the day.' So off to sleep I drift again. At least I can, I'm in no pain. But as I do, forgot to ask. 'Has my tumour gone at last? Now I'm awake, it is the day. My night nurse has gone away. Looks like I've got another one, she looks nice, this could be fun. 'Morning Stanley,' she sounds bright, 'you're doing well, feel alright?' I whisper 'yes thank you.' Not from choice. Not sure about the tumour, but I've lost my voice. 'Don't worry Stanley, it was soon come back.' She read my mind, brains she doesn't lack. Beautiful and so bright, caring for me, that can't be right. So as I'm feeling fit and strong. My pen in hand it can't be wrong. To write a poem, perhaps two. Thanking you all, for what you do. I'll leave this poem when I go, so if you ever feel so low. Read and cheer, yourself do. Your care and love, helps us through. A thankful patient God bless Stanley R Harris may 2012
