Nursery Nonsense
Listen to poem:
They say that the tall ships are going to sea,
but I don’t know what tall ships see.
Now does that make any sense to you?
‘Cuz it doesn’t make sense to me.
They say that a pig went off to the market,
I’m assuming there wasn’t a fair?
And whether he had his roast beef or none,
Tell me, why in the world do we care?
If Peter makes pickles from peppers or not,
I’d wanna know: dill, sweet, or hot?
And whether a peck is a little or lot,
‘Xactly how does that add to the plot?
There’s nothing quite like a dead cat bounce,
‘Cuz dead cats don’t bounce very high.
'Tis a strange phrase you hear all the time,
And frankly, I don’t know why.
These nursery rhyme stories don’t make any sense;
They’re really not terribly deep.
Monotonous rhythms that hopefully
Will send the kids off to sleep! To sleep!
Will send the kids off to sleep.
