Number Party
All of the numbers
From 1 to 10
Were at a party
All the women and men
There were food and drinks
And toys on the shelves
They had to admit
They were enjoying themselves
Then a number stood up
Number 5 was he
Wanting to show
How good he could be
"I am the best
Yes I am so fine
I am half of the
Number line."
"Not so fast!"
cried number 8
Im so pretty and even
I score all the dates."
"You all are nothing!"
Number 9 lumbered
"I am the greatest,
I am a square number!"
Number 10 got up
While everyone debated
"Im first place!
You all are so outdated."
And so it began
The great big brawl
of who was the greatest number of them all
"You guys are nothing!"
Number 2 whined
"Im the only number thats
Even and prime!"
But everyone stopped
When they heard a little voice
It seemed to tell them to make
The right choice
The voice continued
"We were having fun!
But now look at what
We have become!"
"Who is talking so wisely?"
Number 10 strummed
And out emerged
The pesky number 1!
"All of us are important
In our own ways
We don't need to rub it
In someone else's face!"
Number 1 was so tiny
And needed to shave
But everyone listened
To the words he gave
"Everyone one of us
Is the best," he squeaked.
"We don't have to put it
To the test!"
The numbers looked
From one to another
And realized that
These were their sisters and brothers!
"Wow." said number 7
"He's right." said number 3
Then they smiled at each other
As happy as can be.
And everyone knew
That everyone was fine
And went right back to having
A really good time!
