I chose to defend my country, I chose to defend my home, I chose to defend those I love, now I feel alone. You sent me out to war, you sent me out to fight, You sent me away from home, now you ignore my plight. I wanted to make a difference, I wanted to help make peace, I wanted to be appreciated, now my problems increase. I need your understanding, I need your advice, I need your assistance; now wouldn’t that be nice? You just don’t seem to give a damn, you just don’t have time to help me through, You just don’t have the resources, now I’ve fought for you. I wish I could tell my loved ones, I wish I had known, what was to be, I wish I hadn’t seen the things I’ve seen, now what will become of me?

Hi Rick. Thank you once again. As I told Heidi, it's my way of supporting those who battle with PTSD and to raise awareness of this so called "invisible", disorder. Take a look at "Living in Fear" and "It isn't that Simple". They're also based around the same subject.

Thank you Heidi. Have you read a previous poem I submitted called "Living in Fear"? It's another one inspired by the same subject. I wrote these in support of those that come home and to raise awareness of PTSD.
