Not a Dreamer
I tried to be a dreamer,
with those years of daunting doubts.
I tried to ride the dreams
but without rope there is no hope.
I held on tight to words, I wanted to hear,
the problem is they never brought you near.
I have settled now and stronger
in the meaning of perseverance.
To "let go" does not mean to stop caring,
it means I can't do it for you.
Each New Year brought another
promise of this year being the year of birth.
To "let go" does not mean I cut it off,
it means the outcome is out of my hands.
I with stood the time and waited patiently
yet this year has ended and so the dream lingers.
To "let go" is not to deny
but to accept what we had as merely a dream.
You see I never was a dreamer not
one to be patient for to long.
To "let go" is not to fear reality,
but to know the depth of the dream.
To let you go now to dream some more.
I will challenge the future and wait for love
once more.
