Non-Essential Employees Back at Work By Elton Camp It seems Congress has finally come around To bring an end to the government shutdown But some egos must have taken a hard blow That they are “non-essential” to have to know “My job surely seemed important to me, But where I stand, I now most clearly see!” Few employees there are anywhere on Earth Who like to think they’re of very little worth And the taxpayers might rightly want to know Why we need “non-essential” workers, though Even if they’ve been treated in a shabby way At least they got a two-week vacation with pay
