No Teddy Bear
The youngest daughter
in a family of five
liked to hide in the closet.
Quietly grinning.
Toys on her shelf all fallen –
Bubblegum stuck in her hair.
With no teddy bear
She fed ducks in the darkness –
Her family went seeking.
With children at home,
She met her friends in the street.
They laughed loudly together.
