No More

I have resolved, finally, to fight, fight back against those cruel oppressors - memories. No more shall I drown in the flood, broken; no more shall I lie down. I have resolved to smile again, and not that of a mask; to let pleasures entice and beauty inspire. The crispness in the wintry air, though harsh, invigorates; I grin at the scarlet coat of the cardinal, alighting on a bare branch. I let sweet, rejuvenating music fill my limbs and my lungs; it drives me forth, pushing ever further onward. No more shall I allow our past, her shade to haunt and hurt me; I've locked that away, met and rebuffed the ghosts of the past.
