No Justice
He was just a simple man
An uncle, a son, a brother
Too soon was his untimely death
Just a year after his mother's
Just a simple man indeed
Another so-called "minority"
His death wasn't important enough
Not the cop's priority
The officer assumed it accidental
Without following procedure
It must have been too much to ask
To take him from his leisure
No news or press of his tragic death
This simple man was worth no mention
Perhaps if his skin were lighter in shade
The media might have paid attention
And so his killer keeps his freedom
Escaping man's judgment and retribution
While his family mourns his loss
Without justice or restitution
Who will be held accountable?
Who will make amends?
Will there be Earthly justice
For his family and friends?
In memory of my uncle, Troy Laracuente.
