No Greater Pleasure
When I was a child there was no better thrill
Than joyfully skipping a finely cast stone.
When exploring the world with an unjaded eye
There was no greater pleasure than being alone.
I once came to run with a dangerous crew,
But had to jump ship when my cover was blown.
When it’s midnight on the sea of good and evil,
There is no greater pleasure than being alone.
I’ve been cock o’ the walk to some petulant hens,
Many were supine, while others were prone.
But in time I arrived at the poignant conclusion,
There is no greater pleasure than being alone.
