No fourth boon from thee
Given have ye boons three:
Heart and head and hands two,
Enough ‘tis already,
I need no fourth still due.

Poet’s note: Long ere, God once asked man to ask for four boons. This was before he had bitten the fruit of temptation in Eden Garden. Ever so happily content that he was, he said: Lord, you have already given me three boons, head, heart, and hands. Thanks, but I’ve no need for the fourth boon! Umashankar Joshi has beautifully captured this in his Gujarati couplet.
Based on a Gujarati piece by Umashankar Joshi:
Tran vana mujhane malyañ: haiyu, mastak, hath,
Ja chothuñ nathi magavuñ, bahu dai didhuñ nath.
