No Fairy Tale
Waking from once upon a time, the princess comes
undone in the school of every girl’s fantasy - win
the charming prince, serve the king, smile demure - harming
no one, only herself. Spirited intelligence hidden from sun
light, playing the fair damsel, not helpless but decaying
inside her castle. Should she feel blessed smothering under
each cold gem of crown? Her dreams map untold
adventures of escape. She builds strength, hopes rising above.
Never will she retreat; Dreams for tomorrow, she’ll fulfill.
